A white wine from Martinborough – one of a few excellent whites I’ve had recently from this region which is best known for its Pinot Noir. Winner of the Champion Sauvignon Blanc Trophy at the New Zealand International Wine Show in 2025. A pale lemon-green in the glass. A vivid perfume that speaks of the variety, but away from the typical Marlborough style. Grapefruit, blackcurrant, chamomile, lemon zest, pineapple, tomato leaf and green olive. Tension-filled and dry, with great clarity and vigour. A linear acidity is balanced by an unfolding note of toasted spice, and then a smooth texture as you go. The finish is crystalline and slightly peppery. 94pts
