From One Tree Hill in South Australia – a winner of a Double Gold at the 2023 NZIWS competition. An inkily dark crimson/black in the glass. Quite toasty, with vanilla, spice, blackberry, plum, liquorice and cassis on the nose. Ripe, bloody fruits, supported by a good balance of supple tannin, acidity and oak, forming a good core, where the fruit then takes centre stage. A classic Bordeaux style blend, where the Cabernet leads, and the Merlot floods the middle of your palate. Layers of spice, herbs, and savoury notes of smoked meat and tapenade add complexity and character to those lush fruit flavours. The finish is long and saturated. 94pts
