From the Tasman region comes this blend of Pinot Noir, Merlot and Gewürztraminer. An opaque medium depth garnet colour in the glass. Advice is to served lightly chilled – so have done that for this review. A stalky, tartness spikes the aroma, before a good swirl reveals redcurrant, raspberry, plum, cherry, tomato leaf, tamarillo and toasted spices like cloves and star anise. Soft and plush into the palate – medium to light-bodied, but with a raspy grip of tannin and energetic acidity providing backbone to the fruit. The palate better than the nose, but there is still an edgy un-polished ‘natural’ edge here that may be polarising. 87pts
