A Pinot Blanc from south-facing, red volcanic soil slopes of Monzoccolo in the Terlano DOC, Alto Adige – imported by Sapori d’Italia to New Zealand. A pale straw colour in the glass, with beautifully varietal aromas. Rich, ripe flavours of stonefruit, melon, apple and greengage flow from the perfume into the palate. Dry, with a bright, briney acidity cutting through the tropical fruits. A tiny whisper of oak, and there’s a minerality and texture that speaks of the wine spending time on lees. Herbal and spice notes also emerge towards the back of the palate, adding another layer of interest to this already characterful wine. The persistence on the finish adds to the feeling that this would also age very well if cellared. 95pts
