From the Awatere Valley, and showcasing those green herbal notes that are a signature from that location. So crisp, fresh and slightly funky on the nose. You notice the bottle opened from across the table – such is the distinctive perfume. A bright acidity and an exotic assemblage of passionfruit, green melon, lemongrass, blackcurrant and sorrel. The palate has such zest and flow from the acidity – it fairly flits across your tastebuds, before ending in a crash of juice, citrus pith and wet-stone minerality. Just fabulous – a deserved winner. 95pts
