From Pallier Estate’s organic ‘Om Santi Vineyard’ in Martinborough. A pale lemon-gold colour in the glass. The perfume is complex, rich and flowing – cut with grapefruit and lemon curd at first, then with a swirl it shows white peach, cardamom and hazelnut nougat and a distinctive salinity – like white smoke carried on a sea breeze. Acidity carries the fresh fruit well – salty and crisp, with a fine framing of toasty, vanilla oak adding richness and weight. Before long, the texture fills the back of the palate, creamily viscose and unctuous. This too, has a litheness that retains a nimble and poised balance, despite the density throughout. A dry finish with excellent persistence. 95pts
