Made from top quality Chardonnay in coastal Hawke’s Bay, by this exciting Waikato label. A pale golden-green colour in the glass, with varietal aromas of grapefruit, nectarine, cashew nut, lemon peel, apple danish and baking spice. A richness to the palate, with some obvious oak influence, and a ribbon of fruit tannin phenolics, making the wine quite toothsome. Acidity is zesty, but is stalled a little by the succulence of the other elements. Texturally smooth, with a muesli-oatmeal note and even a greek yoghurt tang to the back of the palate. Plenty to see and do in here, but perhaps a little disjointed (so far) for this new release. 91pts
