A sparkling wine from Kaikoura – a vineyard with twenty-year old Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines. Released after a minimum of five years on lees in bottle. A pale straw colour in the glass, with a busy fizz of soft bubbles. Oatmeal and biscuit aromas dominate the nose, with peach and apricot stonefruit flavours underneath. Dry and tart on the palate, with a pin-point saline spine of acidity. Citrus notes emerge and are accented by a chalky minerality where that extended lees contact really shines through. Good, balanced finish with good length. 93pts
