The London Wine Competition has produced 4x Gold and 3x Silver medals for Yealands. The Yealands Estate Single Vineyard Pinot Noir 2021 being the star performer – recognised as the Best in Show in its varietal category. Whilst not the best known of the competitions in the northern hemisphere – the show does feature a Master of Wine, or Master Sommelier on every panel – so the standard of judging is high.
Winemaker Natalie Christensen said the recognition was exciting – “It’s amazing to achieve a golden trifecta for our premium Yealands Sauvignon blancs! The Awatere Valley is such a special place, and the timing of the awards announcement was perfect as we were picking the last of our Seaview fruit for 2023 – a great morale boost for the team after a long five weeks of harvest”.
