A wine from the McLaren Vale in South Australia – the classic southern Rhone blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah. An inky-dark garnet in the glass. Spicy and herbal on the nose, with juicy red fruits and even a touch of green to the aromas. Rhubarb, redcurrant and boysenberry give a crunch of fresh fruit, cartwheeling through on a buoyant line of acidity. Tannin is supple, alongside a generous oak note, adding a mellower tinge to the youthful bounce. Full of energy, it has a simple, likeable drive, and a finish that is dry and well-spiced. 90pts
