A wine from the Macedon Ranges region in Victoria, Australia – a region I’ll be passing through (and stopping in here) in April. A light straw colour in the glass. Good volume on the aromatics – ripe and golden, showing white peach, tarragon, cashew, lemon rind and orange blossom on the nose. However, the plate is quite ethereal, elegant and lifted – but there is no mistaking the underlying concentration and power. A distinct mineral character mid-palate, with a crystalline, pithy tang on the tongue. The fruit is quite tropical as the wine opens up – pineapple, melon and nectarine. Super-long finish, somehow sweet and dry at the same time. 95pts
