Made from Gamay Noir, grown in the Morgon sub-region of Beaujolais. A light, bright, garnet red, magenta-edged in the glass. The nose shows blackcurrant, blueberry, candied fruit peel, plum and violets aromas. Expressive and rounded on the palate. Plenty of fruit, plus underlying characters of leather, beets, mineral and game. A bitter cherry and raspberry tartness pinches out from the lushness, and joins the acidity with bounce and verve. Not heavy, but with a subtle power and personality. Gets the juices flowing. An outstanding food wine – working well with spiced dishes. The finish is subtle, with good length. 92pts
