Emma Marris Pinot Noir 2025

A Marlborough Pinot Noir, sourced from the Leefield Station Vineyard in the Waihopai Valley. Winner of a Gold Medal at the NZIWS this year. A translucent, pale ruby colour in the glass – as light a colour for a Pinot Noir as I can recall seeing for quite a while. Bright and aromatic, with cranberry, redcurrant, blood orange and cherry upfront, with a touch of earthy spice and hibiscus florals too. That levity flows through to the palate, with crunchy fruit, fresh acidity and soft, pliant tannin. Drinks well now, and I’m thinking it could make a good option for a chilled red. An enjoyable, approachable wine that would work well in a bar or restaurant, so look out for it when you’re out and about. 88pts
