A white wine from Sicily, made from Grillo and Malvasia grapes – two Italian varieties which I have enjoyed in the past. Hazelnut, mandarin, red apple, apricot and nashi pear perfumes the nose, and are repeated into the wide palate of stonefruit, guava, lemon peel, and gentle baking spices. A brisk, integrated zip of acid, and a nutty, pie crust note that owes more to the extended lees contact than to any oak toast. A lithe texture laced with an oyster-shell minerality lies in wait; and the flavours, mouthfeel and acidity are rather harmonious and well-judged. 92pts.
