If you love Nebbiolo then you are probably a fan of Barbaresco, from Piedmont, the grape’s spiritual home. A lighter, brilliant and translucent carmine colour, with a radiant nose filled with aromas of cranberry, cloves, dried hay, pepper, plum and a floral lift of rose petals. Generous and enveloping, unfolding with a vibrant acidity, and with abundant super-ripe tannins. Flowing into a palate that is plush with blackberry and dark chocolate flavours, but also a distinctive tart cherry. Alongside the dense core of dark fruit is a counterpoint of savoury tar, autumn leaves and umami notes. A silken texture and satisfyingly long finish await at the end. At WineFolio, we value ‘delicious’ above all. This is. 94pts.
