From the new kids on the block in Martinborough, comes this Sauvignon Blanc, from, I believe, their Lime Hill vineyard in Wairarapa. Translucent green-yellow in the glass, showing a vibrant minerality on the nose. Also delicate unfurlings of lemongrass, melon, green capsicum, nettle and mandarin. Dry, quite tight, with a vitality that is underpinned with a brisk, racy acidity. A tart, apple-skin fruit tannin shows over some lovely ripe greengage and passionfruit flavours. Green but juicy. Distinctive minerality – lime and crushed shell. Real complexity to this Sauvignon and I’d dare to suggest, with a structure that would age very well. 93pts
