A New Zealand sparkling wine, from their organic, biodynamically-certified estate vineyard in Bendigo, Central Otago, made in the ‘Methode Traditionelle’ – a mix of approx. two thirds Pinot Noir and a third of Chardonnay. A light golden straw colour in the glass, shimmering and effusive – the soft mousse of bubbles is enticing and elegant. Perfumed with a yeasty brioche note, and richly ripe nectarine, green apple, apricot and lemon blossom. Tight, intense and with a fresh acidity that balances piquantly with a sweet accent of lush fruit. A salinity and mineral note is, to me, an indicator of this sub-region, and speaks of the vineyard showing through the glass. A masterful, seamless wine. 93pts
