A wine with an award-winning history, Mendoza clone fruit, and from a renowned single vineyard in the famed Gimblett Gravels – one of the first ‘named’ vineyards. A bright lemon-yellow with green tinges, with an elegant, vibrant perfume of roast cashew, grapefruit, white peach, marzipan and citrus blossom. On the medium weighted palate, there is a deeper level of fruit, with melon and nectarine carried on a delicious clarity of acidity. A rich body and a luscious texture from the barrel ferment and MLF influences. There’s a sweetness towards the finish – an apple Danish pastry or lemon curd on toast. Old school in style and presentation, and why not – good to know that there’s still a place and respect for this style. 92pts
