One of the pioneers of what I call the ‘modern Chardonnay’ style – the winery now showing a desire for far more ‘green’ in the spectrum, and picked earlier than has been in the recent past. A pale lemon-green in the glass, with appealing aromas of lime curd, white peach, roast cashew, smoky minerality, chamomile and citrus, elderflower florals. Dry, with a steely freshness and acidity delivering immense line and drive through the palate. Ripe and approachable with a flavour-packed core – grapefruit, red apple, melon and grilled pineapple. Always a great texture to this wine, and the vintage delivers again, with a balanced profile and structure. Oak is subtle, supporting and lends a layer of spice and toastiness. Rounded and plush towards the finish. Dry and with a pithy, lengthy finish. 93pts.
