From a relatively even growing season that didn’t have the heat of 2003. Under cork in good condition especially considering age. Amazing depth of medium garnet colour, with little signs of ageing. Lovely aromas with subtle red cherry along with earthy, savoury, white mushroom, truffle notes. Beguiling and very attractive. Silky, almost, creamy mouth feel – there is still wonderful fruit drive and sweetness. Flavours are more of red fruit – red cherry, raspberry and red currant. There is elegance and fruit purity with some background oak notes but all wonderfully integrated and harmonious. Lovely round, mouth watering, acidity keeps drawing you back for another taste. This is drinking extremely well now and is probably at its peak but expect to hold at this level for a number of years and become more ethereal whilst retaining the balance and elegance. Very Grand Cru Burgundy like. 96pts
