From the estate vineyards in Gladstone, Wairarapa. A deep ruby red colour in the glass, with aromas of strawberry, cinnamon, cherry, white mushroom, sage and smoky cedar. Medium bodied, with fresh, juicy acidity. Toasty, vanilla oak and the rich, concentrated fruit also has a nice savoury counterbalance to it with mocha, tapenade, damp soil and mineral notes. Tannin is also restrained, fine and chalky. Just beautifully poised and layered, nothing out of balance and pieces knitting together in harmony. Smooth and seductively textured. Medium length on the finish, with a sweetening ending. 93pts.
