From a single vineyard in the Omaka Valley, Marlborough. A pale gold, tinged with green in the glass. Bold and bright on the nose – a vibrant smoky, flinty edge is immediate, backed up with red apple, roast cashew, chamomile, lemon and a crème fraiche, mineral salinity. Youthful and full of drive – a swelling acidity gets the flavour pumping into the palate of citrus, nectarine, melon and grapefruit. Restrained oak shows in a cinnamon, vanilla, salted caramel, spice layer. Texture and lees-influence lends a mealy, baguette crumb note. Plush, complex, layered – lots going on. Long, drying finish. 95pts.
