Intruiging, enticing aromas of lilac, cranberry, bay leaf, underlined with scents of damp soil, coffee grounds and autumn leaf. Medium bodied with an integrated acidity and abundant fruit flavours of bramble, pomegranate and red cherry, spiced with nutmeg and clove. The savoury notes return with prosciutto, mushroom and tapenade.
Complex, with finesse and sensuality – many layers unfold as the wine wakes up after an hour or two. Just a smoky hint of oak frames the back of the palate. The earthiness comes back towards the finish – with a lick of pencil lead minerality. The finish is astounding – imagine all the elements returning in a grand symphonic finale, showing remarkable length. 97pts. A hidden gem; eclipses any other Pinot this year.
