Takapoto Estate Central Otago Pinot Noir 2019

Takapoto Estate Central Otago Pinot Noir 2019

A Central Otago Pinot Noir – made with fruit from both Gibbston and Bannockburn sub-regions by the boutique producer based in Waikato (read about a visit here – https://winefolio.co.nz/?p=12111.) It is one of those classic Central Otago Pinots, where the sum of the two sub-regions produces a balance that is hard to explain – it is just harmonic and balanced. Well knitted together now after a few years in bottle, under screwcap. The perfume is bursting with ripe fruits – dark cherry, damson, boysenberry and a layer of toasted spices. Well-made and quite supple, with chalky tannin, juicy acidity, some minerality and a pop of fruit that is quite compelling. It just flows along, before a spicy, silky finish. 92pts
