Black Peak Riesling 2014

A wine from Wanaka in Central Otago – the fruit sourced from an elevated site in Queensberry, the  vineyard having gravel, schist and mineral quartz soils. This 2014 vintage was the first release. A very pale lemon-green colour in the glass. Crisp and fruity aromas of lime, green apple, white peach, crushed shell, matcha and jasmine. The palate starts in a medium style (the residual sweetness is 42 g/l) that would work extremely well as an aperitif. A touch of spritzig on the tongue, before the slinky acidity gets to work, bouncing along with mouth-watering energy. It is relatively simple – in a good way, and very easy to like. 93pts
