A Pinot Noir from Central Otago – a result of masterful blending of various sites (you can read about this here > www.winefolio.co.nz/?p=14729). A dense burgundy red colour in the glass. The perfume is inviting and powerful, with some red cherry, bramble, doris plum, blood orange and pretty notes of wisteria and rose petals. The fruit upfront is quite tart and matches the keen acidity, and then it settles down and floods the palate. There is a good level of complexity here (considering the price point) – tannin is elegant and chalky, also some savoury of herbs, spice and ‘sous bois’ elements pop their head into the picture mid-palate. Great drinking straightaway, and has excellent regional typicity. 92pts
