Jackson Estate ‘Vintage Widow’ Pinot Noir 2014

Jackson Estate ‘Vintage Widow’ Pinot Noir 2014

A Pinot Noir from clay-rich vineyards in Marlborough’s Southern Valleys sub-region. Under screwcap.  A medium ruby colour, with some lightening on the rim. Medium intensity plush red cherry on the nose – not overly complex but very warm and alluring. The impact of clay soils are reflected in the silky tannins with round acidity. Ripe, round primary fruits – more of those red cherry flavours – that glide across the palate and give a medium palate weight. It’s easy to see why this won a Gold Air NZ wine award and that quality continues to shine through even now, with many more years of pleasurable drinking ahead. This is particularly impressive when you consider the price point. Fully harmonised with excellent balance and a medium length finish. 94pts
