From the Alexandra-based company that recently celebrated its 50th Anniversary, this is their top single-vineyard, barrel selected Pinot Noir. A dark burgundy-purple in the glass. The perfume has black cherry, plum, rhubarb compote, cranberry, cinnamon, nutmeg, thyme and lilac florals. Nicely judged and balanced concentration fills the mouth, but doesn’t overwhelm the palate. The sub-region’s signature bright, crisp acidity takes the lead with the supple, fine tannin on the sidelines. The spice that pops up from front to back is quite exotic, complementing the dusty baked earth notes in the long finish. 93pts
