One of a range of Chardonnays made from their beautiful vineyards on the Purerua Peninsula in the Bay of Islands, in a very good, if low quantity, vintage. A translucent and bright lemon-green in the glass. The bouquet starts with ripe fruit – peach, grapefruit, lemon and pear, but also showing some cashew, vanilla and baking spice. The palate is medium-bodied and juicy, with that citrus leading the way, on a wave of crisp acidity. Dry, with a youthful energy that pulses through the middle, giving good direction and drive. Through the palate things deepen, with some toasty oak, light tannin and silky texture emerging. Good persistence on the finish. 92pts
