A wine from Martinborough, in the Wairarapa wine region. A pale silvery-green colour in the glass. The perfume is instantly varietal, with pear, ginger, peach, nutmeg, nougat, incense, nutmeg and orange blossom. Off-dry and medium-bodied into the palate. A touch of barrel ferment gives a toastiness but also weight and richness. Spicy and ripe, with a focus on the glossy fruit, but also a hint of savoury tannin and terracotta as you go. A plush textural quality creeps into the back of the palate and the finish has a sweetness to its persistence. 91pts
