A Pinot Noir from the Wanaka sub-region of Central Otago. A dense, dark ruby colour in the glass. Perfumed with redcurrant, cranberry and cherry fruits, mingling with toasted sourdough, black pepper, thyme, star anise and rose petal florals. The subtle varietal typicity on the nose transfers to the palate. Dry, but plush and silken, with a fleshiness to the fruit. Oak makes a mark, with toasty barrel elements as a frame, then fine tannin rasps across the tongue. All the time the juice bleeds through the palate, lifted by fresh acidity, pushing on to a spicy, harmonious finish of great length. 94pts
