Terra Sancta ‘Slapjack Block’ Pinot Noir 2015

One of three single block Pinot Noirs, Slapjack Block is located in the heart of the Terra Sancta Estate – the oldest vines in Bannockburn, planted in clay soils in 1991. From a very good vintage, and in a prime drinking window at ten years of age. An opaque, bloody and dark ruby-burgundy red in the glass. Cherry, raspberry, plum, black olive, orange peel, liquorice and bags of toasted spice and wood notes in the bouquet. Very complete and concentrated into the palate. This has harmony, balance and power in its medium-bodied structure. The tannin is long and supple, with drag across the tongue. Acidity carries those juicier fruit notes into the savoury depths further through the palate, with bracken, nori and old leather coming out. The finish is smoothly soft and lengthy. 94pts
