Created from just eight rows of Rhône white grape varieties – Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne, in the ‘la collina’ vineyard, Hawke’s Bay. A translucent pale golden colour in the glass. The perfume is key, as you might expect from a wine using these varietals. A signature almond note is there, amongst citrus, stone fruits, pear, green herbs and a warming of ginger and cardamom. Just at the top of the aromas is also a waft of honeysuckle florals. A generous texture greets the palate entry, with a viscosity and soft fruit tannin. Swept along on brisk, saline acidity, that texture persists through layers of savoury, with spice and white pepper emerging. Finishing with great length and finesse. 94pts
