One of the sought-after Pinot Noirs from the iconic Bannockburn producer. A brooding, dark purple colour in the glass. The scent is alluring, with distinctive floral top notes of wisteria, lilac and rose petal. Black cherry, raspberry, rosehip and roasted spices join the perfume forming a joyous medley on the nose. Quite a ripe and generous edge to the palate, with a lightness of touch that is both elegant and balanced. A fine tannin profile offers a spine to the middle of the wine, and there is an easy flow to the acidity that keeps things moving without intruding. The finish is long and dry – with no sign that a dozen years in bottle have dulled this bottling – could keep for another decade. 95pts
