An aromatic white wine – a dry Gewurztraminer from this excellent producer in Alsace. A lemon-gold colour in the glass. The perfume has both power and subtlety. There is a hint of the defining rose petal and lychee notes of the varietal, but heads more in a citrus direction, with satsuma, lemon peel and lime marmalade. The entry is piquant, with a tart juiciness and great concentration. An energetic, saline acidity has line and definition through the fruit, bordered with a pithy rasp of tannin. Some texture adds roundness and it fills out well towards the persistent, dry finish. 94pts
