The new labelling of what was previously Millton’s ‘Riverpoint Vineyard’ Viognier. A bright golden shade in the glass. A good varietal typicity to the bouquet, with pear, melon, cardamom, acacia, eucalypt, apricot and almond croissant. The palate is quite rich, off-dry and slightly down in acidity. Plush, ripe and spicy, there’s also a sappy herbal quality as well as a waxy, silken texture that fills the mouth – these add interest where the line and drive is lacking. A note of tannin hints at some skin contact in the fermentation, and adds to the pithy, drier finish. 92pts
