From the family vineyard at Mt Maude in Wanaka, picked from two blocks on the Eastern and Western sides, facing in opposite directions. Quite a pale ruby colour in the glass. A beguiling scent – pure Pinot – with strawberry, cherry cola, pomegranate, plum, orange rind, five spice and rose petal florals. More body than the colour suggests, with a lively blast of fruit and zesty, flowing acidity. Tannin is supple, adding some structure to the riotous pulse of fruit and spice. Zig zagging through phenolics and texture to a finale that has good length. 93pts
