Dry River Gewurztraminer 2008

Dry River Gewurztraminer 2008

An aromatic white wine from Martinborough – labelled ‘Amaranth’ in this year, which denotes bottlings with particularly good cellaring potential (Amaranth is Greek for ‘unfading flower’). A pale green-gold colour in the glass – no sign of darkening in colour due to age. The scent is abundant and exotic, with orange, quince, lemon marmalade, ginger, peach, pear and both a crushed shell minerality and a honeysuckle floral. Soft and textural on the palate, with enough integrated acidity to keep it clean. Viscose and oily, with a little tickle of fruit tannin. Great harmony and complexity, and the finish has great persistence of flavour. 95pts
