A single estate wine from Bendigo in Central Otago – the vineyard overlooking Lake Dunstan. This is a new label to me (and most I would imagine) – the wines made by Rudi Bauer.
A salmon-copper pink colour in the glass. The perfume is lively and approachable, showing redcurrant, cherry, blood orange, nougat, raspberry and rose petals. The palate starts dry and quite vibrant, with more ripe red berry flavours, and a dried herbal note adding savoury interest as a balance. A sliver of chalky minerality creeps in mid-palate, on a wave of fresh acidity. Beautifully crafted, with a real finesse. 92pts
