Château Ascumbas ‘A d’Ascumbas’ Rouge 2014

Château Ascumbas ‘A d’Ascumbas' Rouge 2014

A Grand Cru from the Saint-Emilion appellation – with ten years in the bottle from the ‘good’ rated 2014 vintage. Some browning to the dark ruby colour in the glass. The nose has great appeal, with an array of ripe red fruits – cherry and plum to the fore, with vanilla, incense, mocha and spice notes also present. The palate has fine structure, with supple tannin and toasty oak – the length is very good. Quite rich and deep, with the flavours developing darker – more into the blackcurrant and bramble range, and a touch of balsamic, umami, secondary character. The finish has good length and a spicy dryness. 91pts
