A Chardonnay from Central Otago. A pale golden-lemon colour in the glass, with a touch of green in the depths. Scents of peach, apple, quince, lemon peel, baking spice, toast, hazelnut and orange blossom on the nose. A weighty statement – the palate is densely packed with a bold concentration of stonefruit and citrus flavours. Toasty oak richness balances the sweet fruit but I found the acidity a little underpowered when the palate needed some flow. The plush texture reminds me of vanilla custard, with a creamy viscosity and gentle spice. 88pts
