A wine from Macedon in Victoria, Australia – tasted with winemaker Matt Harrop on a visit to the winery. A pale lemon-green colour in the glass. The bouquet has equal parts fruit, savoury and floral components – white peach, apple, lime and grapefruit; cashew, breadcrumb and struck-match; lemon blossom and jasmine. Concentrated and powerful into the palate, with lush fruit accented by a clean acidity and zesty minerality. A little spice and vanilla from the barrel ferment adds warmth, whilst an oatmeal, creamy texture builds in behind. Good drive and length on the palate, and an equally persistent finish. 94pts
