A Chardonnay from one of Burgundy’s hottest producers – one of his newly released entry-level wines. Sealed under quality cork and a thick wax seal. A distinctly lime green tinge to the golden colour in the glass. Initially quite reticent and closed on the nose for this youngster. A solid swirl releases a bouquet of white nectarine, lemon oil, grapefruit, dried papaya, bergamot, hay, green herbs and orange blossom. Decant for best presentation. On the palate there is a brisk acidity, quite saline and sharp, delivering a tight linearity. Very fine, precise and elegant. Savoury notes of green olive, preserved lemon and oyster shell; and by the finish I’m seeing warmer tones of vanilla, chestnut and cardamom. 94pts
