A Marlborough wine – using organic fruit from the excellent Churton vineyard. An opaque golden colour in the glass. The grape type is evident, but the intention to produce a wine of ‘this style’ trumps any varietal nuances. Aromatic, with a perfume of apricot, grapefruit, hay, preserved lemon, green olive and tangerine. Dry and zesty with the skin-ferment winemaking offering plenty of texture as well. Fruit tannin offers a prickle across the tongue – this a not a wine that lacks anything in personality. A soft acid freshness breezes through the palate, which is well-balanced and weighted. A dry finish has decent length. 92pts
