Craggy Range Aroha 2019

Part of the ‘Prestige’ range of wines from Craggy Range – I tasted the recent releases here > www.winefolio.co.nz/?p=8637. The Pinot Noir – Aroha – is probably the producer’s best known wine on the global stage. A deep cherry red/purple colour, with aromas of blueberry, elderberry, cherry and rosehip, overlaid with lighter notes of baking spice, lavender and incense. The palate expands on the perfume, with more depth and complexity. A balanced core of acidity and fine tannin supports the ripe fruit, with savoury elements emerging as you go. Although elegant and nimble, there is a concentration hiding in the corners, and it seeps into the finish that is seamless and with great length. Deserving of its reputation – drinking well now (the makers have been striving for better accessibility early) but will reward cellaring for another decade easily. 96pts
