Made with fruit from Central Otago vineyards in Gibbston and Bannockburn. A deep burgundy colour, with classic regional and varietal aromas. That is to say that it smells like Central Pinot – of black cherry, raspberry, damson plum, roasted spices and thyme. Spicy and toasted, with a good framework of oak and bright acidity. The fleshy fruit is upfront and juicy, with tannin deftly woven in, balancing the layers. A youthful energy flows through the palate, quite glossy and ripe, before some savoury notes emerge – terracotta, nori and tapenade. The finish has good length with plenty of personality. 92pts
