A wine with fruit sourced from Hawke’s Bay, and the sensational 2020 vintage, from this Wairarapa producer. A bright pale green-straw colour in the glass with a lively, youthful perfume of grapefruit, white peach, cashew nut, lemon peel and butterscotch on the nose. A generosity to the palate – the ripe fruit is carried by a linear acidity, and some smoky oak notes add richness. Medium-weight and with an agile balance between concentration and fluidity. The texture is key here, with a silkiness that isn’t too cloying or overpowering, but adds another dimension to a zesty, fruit-forward expression that is excellent value for money. The finish is drier and with good length. 92pts.
