A white wine from Margaret River in Western Australia – home to some of Australia’s sensational Chardonnays. A small family-run vineyard in the Wilyabrup sub-region that also produces good Semillon and reds such as Malbec. A pale lemon-green in the glass. Bright aromas of lemon peel, apple, sorrel, white peach and a touch of fennel on the nose. Starting to turn towards a more golden expression through the palate – the ten years of age playing a part – as apricot, peach and quince flavours mingle with the citrus from the perfume. Oak is a light touch, and texture is more important as you go through the palate – balanced, encircling the components and adding depth. The finish is good – dry, pithy and with some length. 91pts
