From the Rheinhessen region of Germany – a blend of Chardonnay & Pinot Blanc – the famed Riesling producers take on white Burgundy? A translucent lemon-green in the glass. Delicate and elegant on the nose, with some vanilla notes from the oak, but led by golden apple, lemon curd, white peach, wheat grass, tarragon and elderflower aromatics. The palate shivers with an energetic acidity and shows a tight youthfulness. There are warmer notes of ginger, baking spice and white pepper as the wine wakes up. A gentle creaminess to the texture, and a minerality to the dry, pithy finish. 94pts
