A Central Otago wine, and winner of a Gold Medal at NZIWS this year. A very pale, translucent silvery green colour in the glass. The rich perfume of melon, yuzu, honeysuckle, sweetcorn, golden apple also shows a lift of white floral notes. The palate is off-dry, with generous pear, satsuma, and nougat flavours. The moderate acidity leaves the palate rounded and plush, with a texture that reminds me initially of marshmallow, but a welcome tartness does emerge – greek yoghurt – and this gives a subtle lift. The finish isn’t long, but has a little pepper at the end. 91pts
